In the midsummer of July, watermelons hit the market in large quantities across Henan Province. However, due to fluctuations in market supply and demand, some production areas experienced difficulties in selling their watermelons, with prices plummeting to as low as 0.1 yuan or even lower. The hardworking watermelon farmers found themselves facing the challenging situation of achieving a bumper harvest but failing to turn it into a profitable one. As a local enterprise based in Henan, Chixu New Energy is deeply committed to supporting its rural communities and the well-being of its farmers. Its chairman, Liu Shaohua, personally led a team to the fields to launch a charitable initiative aimed at assisting farmers. Through these concrete actions, Chixu New Energy is helping alleviate the farmers' difficulties and spreading warmth throughout the summer season with every act of kindness.
Upon learning that the watermelon farmers were facing sales difficulties, Liu Shaohua made a special trip to the Hansi Town Watermelon Trading Market in Zhongmu County, where he witnessed the farmers standing by their stalls amid the scorching heat, yet their watermelons continued to sell slowly at low prices. He immediately decided to purchase the watermelons at a price 0.3 yuan higher than the market rate, aiming to help the farmers alleviate the pressures of production and sales as much as possible. During his visit, he also encountered several farmers facing significant hardships; Chairman Liu Shaohua donated an additional amount of aid within his means. For one particular farmer—whose elderly mother, aged over 80, was ill and whose daughter had an intellectual disability—Liu Shaohua contributed an extra 2,000 yuan, a gesture that deeply moved everyone present. Although he had already purchased several thousand jin of watermelons and was preparing to return home, upon seeing the farmers still waiting tirelessly under the blazing sun and the large quantity of watermelons still unsold, he decided to place additional orders—adding an extra 1,000 jin for each of the more than a dozen farming households—so that the farmers could return home and rest as soon as possible.
The launch of the inaugural agricultural support video sparked widespread public attention; consequently, a watermelon farmer from Shangqiu posted a plea for help, stating that his elderly father, who had cultivated 30 mu of watermelons, was still facing severe sales stagnation. In response, Chixu New Energy immediately launched its second phase of the campaign. Led by the Marketing Director and the Administrative Director, the team drove 180 kilometers to the fields in Shangqiu, purchasing 20,000 jin of watermelons at a price of RMB 0.26–0.30 per jin on the same day; the following day, they drove an additional 150 kilometers to Zhoukou and purchased the entire batch at a price of RMB 0.35 per jin. Upon returning to Zhengzhou, this batch of watermelons—carried with heartfelt care—was distributed free of charge to sanitation workers, residents of the Xianghe Nursing Home, company employees, park property management staff, and local businesses, sharing their refreshing sweetness and goodwill with the many individuals working diligently in their everyday lives.
